Old Style (occasionally referred to as Humanist) typefaces are based on hand lettering of scribes and they first appeared in the late 15th century, before Modern typefaces.

Their relation to. Old style typefaces are an important component of every good typeface library. Originally created between the late 15th and midth centuries, these early roman types are characterized by curved strokes whose axis inclines to the left, and little contrast between thick and thins.

The Old Style (or Garalde) types start to demonstrate a greater refinement—to a large extent augmented by the steadily improving skills of punchcutters. As a consequence the Old Style types are characterised by greater contrast between thick and thin strokes, and are generally speaking, sharper in appearance, more refined.

Old houses come in all shapes and sizes. The style of a house is greatly influenced by its location, when it was built and if it has undergone renovations.
